Acupuncture
Duties and Responsibilities: Acupuncture professionals are trained to treat the entire
individual rather than the specific illness or condition. They take into
account a patient's physical, mental and emotional condition in order to
determine the proper course of treatment. In addition to providing acupuncture
therapy, practitioners help their patients achieve balance and wellness in
their everyday lives.
Salary: $75,000
Education: In almost every school in the US, acupuncture studies begin
at master’s level where students could opt for a major or concentration in
acupuncture. A master’s degree program is of 3 to 4 years which includes
assessment procedures and therapeutic treatment of illnesses. The main focus of
curriculum is on Western and Oriental medicines along with basic and advance
acupuncture treatment methods. Further courses could be taken in needle
technique, biomedicine and herbal medicine and acupuncture points. The highest educational
program of this discipline is doctoral degree program which is of 6 semesters
and emphasizes more on advanced clinical experience and research work. Finally
an apprenticeship of 4000 hours qualifies professionals for state certification
or license from Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
Reflection: I think that the acupuncture is very disciplinary
because, you needed have the exact measures for do this because you can’t put
the needles in the correct place or the patient can suffer the consequences and
I don’t like me be an acupuncturist.
